ABOUT

On 18 June, we hosted our first ever Masterclass at the Conduit. This intimate conversation featured Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, former President of Sri Lanka and Her Excellency Roza Isakovna Otunbayeva, former President of Kyrgyzstan, two former Heads of State who helped lead their countries out of periods of revolution and war. These courageous leaders discussed the difficult decisions they made in an effort to reunite and stabilize their countries during difficult periods, as well as the unique challenges they faced and overcame as the first - and still only - women to lead their respective countries as Heads of State.

Moderated by Emily Kasriel, the Head of Editorial Partnerships and Special Projects at the BBC, and featuring our CEO Shamil Idriss, the full conversation is now available to view on Youtube at the link above.
